Coolant smell on hard accel.

I have a 2004 excursion that used to be heavily modded. The guy returned it to stock except for a huge intercooler, and 5in exhaust. We did headgaskets, oil cooler, egr cooler 9 months ago because they were blown from the mods he had on it. Then came in for a heatercore leaking 3 months ago. Now he is in for "coolant smell on hard accel." No degas bottle over-flow, pressure test passes, no leaks nada. What i am thinking (correct me if im wrong) is that the gas cap is venting just a little bit because of the hard accel. It has 19K on the odo. Coolant is a thin black color, smells horrible... i mean horrible.

What do you guys think?

Black skunk piss=headgaskets and or egr cooler. Have you pulled the egr valve out yet and had a look in the intake for coolant? Sometimes you will find black crystals in the intake from the carbon and coolantr mixture being severely burnt.

I'd start with going over the degas overflow TSB and check the cooling system pressure that way... and... are you "sure" he's not running a tuner again, and trying to pull the wool over your eyes?

What Alex and Dwayne are saying... Is it possible that the coolant level isn't high enough to puke and all you are getting is the farts kinda thing?

I've seen a few where, when you get into it hard, you can watch the pressure gauge as it climbs, the cap dumps and the gauge climbs and the cap dumps.... over and over...

I'm betting money on the exact same thing Alex is saying. The jackass is probably lying through his teeth and has put the tuner back in.

Burnt skunk piss=blown headgaskets which can also give the side effect of a blown egr cooler. The horrible smell that smells like burnt skunk piss is the premium gold being severely burnt from combustion chamber gasses.

The rest of you Eskimos up here in Canada beware: burnt skunk piss coolant can also be a result of a Webasto heater burning the ever living shit out of the coolant as well which can also weaken the headgaskets.

I have alot experience with burnt skunk piss. Laugh, okay!

yea guys i did all the usual that u are recomending. What i found was after 25min of driving, all of a sudden ECT was at 173.6 constantly, and then EOT ramped up to 253.0 degrees ( i had to adjust values on bar graph to see how hot it got ). Going to do the egr cooler also if its getting that hot ( hotline said never do a oil cooler without a egr cooler ). This one is the one with ported injectors. Also pressure never goes over 15psi so im good.
