Factory-built high sulfur content 6.4L

I have seen reports on a couple websites of people seeing "factory" built trucks without a DOC or DPF. Since I consider this forum to be pretty truthful, I am wondering if anyone here has seen an '08 super duty without that emissions equipment.

ya been away for a while eh?

People posting about sightings of no emmisions on '08s sounds kinda fishy to me, I have yet to see or hear of this. But that doesn't really mean anything as far as my input goes. I have seen some strange things come out of the factorys that were a miss though.

I have been monitoring the site but I have been very reluctant to post. I probably still shouldnt be.....Some markets will get different emissions equipment, I just wasnt sure if there was a fleet only package or something I didnt hear about.

I would think that something like this would be a rarity. Other than that, he were watching a thread on another forum as a guy gutted his catalyst and DPF starting a new set of problems for him. This also brings up what we have been hearing about an upcoming emissions recall on 6.4L equipped vehicles... something about EPA compliance and DPF issues?

Anyway, if these trucks exhaust I think the fuel issue will eventually go away as high sulfur fuel becomes rare. We had a topic going somewhere here by a military tech dealing with plugged DPFs assumed to be attributed to severely extended idling. (did I get that right?)

I recall 6.0 issues from using SDs as tow units or service trucks on flight lines but I don't recall a 6.4 post (but, hey, I'm never wrong..... not). I recall reading something about LSD 6.4s - availability, yes.... differences, no...

My personal opinion... emergency response vehicles (fire engines and ambulances) and some military vehicles should be exempt from emissions requirements if this will improve dependability, servicability, simplicity or reduce service requirements.

I don't think I'm a tree hugger and I don't think that the "sky is falling"... but you can shit in your own back yard for only so long before you can't sit out there any more....

The standard fleet guides don't list anything about this, but the Vehicle Special Order (VSO) Department can do just about anything when it comes to specialty fleets.

If you give your favorite parts guy enough doughnuts, he might be able to pull up some of the parts diagrams listing alternative aftertreatment components.

I ended up tracking down the vehicles and they were modified by an upfitter so maybe thats how it was done. I have the part #'s and instructions, I was just curious if those options were available and they just hadnt made it into the order guides. I checked the available VSO options and nothing was listed there but as you said anything is possible with the right number of orders.

Hold on a second Jay, I don't eat doughnuts. I'm 5'8" and 175 lbs, I don't fit the standard fat lazy parts guy image. Now if you pony up a 6 or 12 of my favorite barley pop then were in business.

I did some looking but didn't come up with any alternate exhaust/emission options. I do remember when the catalyst started being installed in vehicles that certain emergency/offroad units were exempt from having them installed.
