ktmlew
Hope this is OK? I have a well used NGS with 2 programable cards, EEC-IV & EEC-V cables, manuals, case and a couple of older cards. First offer over $1100.00 takes it. The shop I'm working in doesn't seem to need or want to use my best skills so I'm likely gonna have to move on again. In my last dealer job I turned at least 15 hrs a week of diag time with the NGS @ 21.00hr F/R. In this shop to date after three weeks, .5hrs of diag time @ 14hr F/R! Sure won't miss the NGS here! I need traveling money. Will deliver within 400 miles of Southern WV. Likely will be unemployed again tommorrow! Either pay me or loose me, right! ktmlew
Thought I would give the guys here first crack at it. If nothing happens by Tuesday evening I'll do E-Bay. It's works fine.....as far as I remember.... I've used it 3-4 times recently and the tech beside me has borrowed it a few times but I'm broke and likely gonna be moving again. Need money to travel. I do appreciate the support though.I've seen alot of guys that want eveyone to think it's "out-dated". I figure there are alot of non-CAN equipped vehicles on the road if you don't have a VCM available. I'm trying to keep from selling my dirtbike! It may go next week too...... An NGS will serve for many more years and it is quite good for 7.3L equipped trucks as well as body and drivetrain diagnosis. Even if you have a VCM, engineering strongly advises against using NGS for the 6.0L because it does not display data accurately. I would love to have an NGS and would take you up on the offer but I am slowly stuffing my piggy bank for a VCM and PDA combo.Sorry to hear things are bad enough to have to sell your tools and your toys. This is the type of info I need to learn. Heading south tommorrow for some interviews.
ktmlew
Sold on Ebay!
Keith Browning
So what was the winning bid? (If you don't mind me asking) I am just wondering what a used NGS goes for. For that matter I wonder what the price is on any of the NGS models offered by ERS Solutions. Their SBDS Red Line looks like a screaming deal. I tried looking on their web site and the Internet or their site was wacky slow!
ktmlew
Done deal! The NGS went for $1299.00 as i had set a "buy-it-now" price. I have an OTC 4000 Enhanced with cartridges thru 02 that will do most of the same tests that the NGS does so I'm not completely out. Seriously looking at getting out of the "wrenching" side of the business. Will be in Nashville checking out the Diesel college next week. I still like fixing cars but just can't handle the pressure of trying to produce QUANITIY while still keeping quality up. I've had several calls/emails from dealers but it's basically the same deal everywhere. No guarantee, "we're really busy" (but no guarantee), we've got PLENTY of parts, (no guarantee)....etc.....etc.....I can't move several hundred miles with no guaranteed income! Either pay me a salary with commisson or forget it. Ain't gonna do it!
HeuiTim
If you have diesel experience, I would look into a Cat dealer. My shop is hourly, fixing it right is the priority most of the time. You have some large Cat dealers in your area, Carolina Cat & Yancey in GA. You may want to check out their truck shops. I know Yancey pays real well. I like big trucks because there is room to work most of the time. RV's suck but we might see a couple a week. Good luck, Tim
Keith Browning
I was scrolling through these posts and saw this and thought it was funny that my dealer was still using an NGS up until last month. The VCM took a dump and since support for NGS is long gone, my manager was forced to buy the PDS kit. (Now you can see the reason I needed to buy my own.) We have a shop foreman on the "car side" of the shop that is easily confused by technology so the NGS was good enough for him. It will be interesting to see how he embraces the PDS. It took him a while with IDS but he's coming along.
