Joey Kaylor
its been a while since i have posted on here, but i got a strange one for ya: 2007 F450, blew the charge cooler tank clean off of it. the hot side is what blew, the tank was badly warped on the flange. driver said he heard a pop taking off from a stoplight, and lost power. when i pulled it out, the tank was still attached, but blown partially off the core. inside the tank, the reinforcement rib was broken also. i have installed a new core (truck only has 2700 miles on it, but the dealer could not get it in till tuesday, and we had to have this truck back in service) and driven it, with no further problems, but would like to know if there is any other tests i should run to verify that its not overboosting at some point. the boost test ran fine, and i am gonna run the EGR test just to have some experience on it, and to see if its sticking any. of course, its an ambulance, and sits idling most of the time too. they still aint figured out how to set that park brake to kick the high idler on! Jim Warman
I've heard of it happening but have only seen one thus far... hot side tank.... F350 dually that tows too much of a gooseneck trailer (this is a "from what I could see".... not a local customer). Tank was replaced and the tech took it for a good drive.... MGP never went past 27PSI, IIRC.
Joey Kaylor
yep. no problems so far, gonna run a couple more checks (aka run the shit out of it) for another hour or so before i load the Hursts back up on it. i got it sitting here, i am gonna make up a new set of tanks for it out of aluminum and use it on my explorer. saved me a few bucks on an intercooler for that project!
