Bruce Amacker
At our local FMC training center, they removed the grill completely from the 6.4 demo truck to prevent these types of things......
Jim Warman
Just to drive the point of this thread home..... we had one come off a hoist Friday afternoon.... A 15,000 pound BendPak two post(I've always had trouble with a hoist with "bend" in it's name) and an 06ish SRW F350 CC 4X4. The hoist is less than 6 months old. Usually, if something goes bad, we'll see one arm kick out and the truck get's wobbly..... On this one, I "think" I know which arm kicked out first, but I have no proof nor real world logic to support it.... Somewhere during the incident, all but one pad came out from under the truck and most of the pad extensions came out. Two of the locks on the arms are bent back so they no longer touch. The truck had been suspended on the hoist for over 10 minutes... the tech had just finished removing the starter bolts and had just walked back to his bench to swap tools.... Thankfully, no one was injured and the truck belongs to a customer that accepts the fact that "shit happens"... Take care out there, boys and girls..... Alex Bruene
Wow /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eeeesh.gif. I had an instructor that had that happen to him and then he developed a seizure disorder. Dwayne's had that problem for years already... he's used to it... good thing our health care system up here covers MGD.

Alex Bruene
Miller Genuine Draft? I do believe that's what they've been medicating Dwayne with for the past little while.
Keith Browning
A Canadian drinking Miller beer? GASP! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif I thought that kind of behavior was unheard of? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
Jim Warman
I AM Canadian, eh? But MGD is brewed in Canada under licence and, IIRC, is somewhere around 5% up here.... Without the chance to do one of those blind taste tests (though I'm pretty sure I can drink enough to get "blind"), I would think that the recipe has been "Canadianized". DwayneGorniak
Trust me, it's definately Canadianized. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif Just got back from a whole long thanksgiving weekend of drinking a whole lot of that stuff. Was out in the mountains quaddin' and relaxin in my travel trailer. Deep fried a 20lb turkey. Man what an awsome weekend. Smacked my head twice though, right where the stiches are. Jeeze that friggin hurts. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
Keith Browning
Dwayne? How did your noggin heal up? Okay? I'll bet that's gonna leave a mark and I hope you don't loose too much hair as you age. But just think of all the cool stories you can make up to tell your grandchildren! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/surprise.gif
BrunoWilimek
Cant seem to locate one online yet. But as I am doing this I thought why couldn't I get a $8.00 locking air chuck and have a custom made length of air hose made to replace the 1 foot hose that is currently on my tire inflater? Our maintenance guys just got a 6 footer made up for our new press. I'll bet it could not have been much money. On EDIT:That is about what I did. When the recall on F550 tires came out a couple of years ago, the shop bought a Snap-on (Blue Point GA-477A)guage and clip-on chuck, and a length of old air hose cut to 10 feet, added 2 fittings, and there it was. Our safe inflator. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif http://www.uniquetruck.com/Hand_Held_Truck_Tire_Inflators_C80.cfm

Keith Browning
Thanx Bruno, that is what I have been looking for but for cryin out loud they shouldn't be so freakin hard to find! I should stuff the idea in the suggestion box over at the RTTP. As for my attempt to get one put together, my locking chuck doesn't lock very well, it's difficult to get on the valve stem on some trucks and impossible on others. Now that all trucks seem to have steel valve stems I have to use one of two extended chucks. Why am I having so much trouble with dual rear tires all of a sudden? Tell me I need three different air chucks to set tire pressures and I'm gonna flip!

I'm sure you will enjoy this site alot more than that freakin Protech. Is that Rick Christie you're talkin about? He has always been my favourite instructor. A real good shit. As for what I drink, it's usually Blue or MGD. And yes the MGD is better up here than south of the border. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif
Jim Warman
Bruce... it took a while to "prepare" the bottles for my tree, but now I have to tear the danged thing down.... I noticed I left some in a bottle on the bottom row /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif In keeping with the topic of this thread, I'd like to point out that proper safety apparel was worn throughout the erection of this edifice including a sign at the front door that stated "hard head hat area". 2006
Just to continue with the tires, I had a inner 19.5 tire blow on me while i was airing it up on the truck. If this tire was on the outer position and the outer side wall blew, i'm sure that it would have seriously injured or even killed me. Just before the tire blew, i started to hear the steel sidewall belts snap, i heard about 4 snaps and then the big bang. Lessons learned: use a minimum of 10 feet or air hose to fill, listen for any tell tale snapping of the sidewall steel belts, never repair a tire that has run low on air. You lifes worth more than a tire, be carefull..
