G. Bedford
Some one else hates the 6.0l in the Econoline more than I do. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2007/sep/05/engines-strain-ems-services/
DwayneGorniak
“We have had them break down while transporting a patient to the hospital. It did delay care when we had to send another ambulance when one didn’t start.” I was wondering when (not if) it would get to this point. About a year ago someone made a post on our Canadian Protech website (titled: "A site for sore eyes") stating that he had seen his first Duramax ambulance and that it had almost brought a tear to his eyes knowing that he would see less six litre ambulance failures because of this. I had replied in my usuall "joking" I repeat "JOKING" sarcastic manor just this: " And just think of how much better the odds of saving a life are because you know the Duramax will actually make it to the hospital". It was in absolutely no time that I was hauled into my dealer principals office and ripped a new asshole. The head dudes from Ford in Oakville had phoned my D.P. and had ripped him a new asshole about my comment. They were concerned that I had opened a can of worms that could get out into public and allow someone to sue them over a loss of life. My reply to all of that was just simple. "I am not the asshole that built this piece of shit. And if they are that concerned, they should be doing something about the product." I know I am opening myself up to a world of attack here. But before I get attacked, let me say this. I was born and raised believing in nothing but Fords. I came to work in this Ford industry living and breathing nothing but Blue Oval propaganda. At that time no one could convince me that there was anything else better out there. Boy did my eyes get opened over the years. I still am a dedicated tech to this industry, but reality is reality. And no matter how much you polish a piece of shit, it will never ever become a gem. All right, let her rip. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif

Steve Mutter
I know that chevy had a ambulance out,how is it doing?,man it just seems like Ford can't get any good press these days,
Keith Browning
I'll say this, being a Ford Diesel tech and being keenly aware of all the problems I might be a little concerned should I ever find myself in serious condition while being hauled to the hospital in one. Would be ironic to pass on after an untimely STC fitting failure. I hope the Diesel Gods are pleased with my work! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
Alex Bruene
From what I have been told, the city of Toronto went with General Muffers ambulances since they were the only ones to offer a gasoline engine ambulance chassis. I guess they were afraid of the Dura-crap too.
mchan68
What's going on for 2008 model year E-series? The last I heard, Ford was given the green light to resume production of the 6.0L in them, beginning in August. The models I've seen so far are the ugly looking ones with the nose of the 2008 F-series fitted to them. The ones I've seen so far, all spec.'d with the 5.4L gas engines. Anybody know what's going on? 6.0L yeah or nay?
Alex Bruene
From what I have heard (not seen) it will have a 6.0 with a DPF.
