who has been on it? I just went this year. I acquired my senior masters late last year. I just got back from he cruise last week and I must say it was a very well thought out and out together event. I was impressed to say the least. Brings back some confidence that ford thinks highly of their techs.

Not up here. We just get summer jackets that don't keep us warm in the winter. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif

I'm just kidding, I'm sure they think something of us. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

Been there done that in 2003, I loved every minute of it Ford really puts of a spread for the SMT cruise.

When I was on the cruise I really felt that Ford appreciated us at the front line, all we do and deal with day to day, and was happy to have us, THEN I went back to work to SLTS cuts etc. Don't take it the wrong way I am grateful for the opportunity to go the first time and I was eligible and qualified for the champions contest and would love to go again, but the sad reality is it's just a dog and pony show to make you fell better about all the warranty work your getting when you go home. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif

I thought it was to REWARD you for achieving Senior Master Status. It is a big accomplishment and anyone that reaches that status should be proud! Above that, be thankful for the gift for I am sure that is all it is intended to be. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

Actually, it was about RETENTION. The cruise came about at the same time the labor cuts were announced in 1999. Ford understood that if technicians bailed from the ranks en masse the dealer council would be up in arms. It has been a very effective tool to keep technicians around.

Dustin, I was on the cruise with you. Wish I knew you were there, could have met the face behind the Bronco. If you attended the PTS Idol at the Voltage lounge and heard the loud mouth drunk that went down and took the mic away from Jason "Seacrest" then you would have saw me and my wife. We were sitting beside him trying to keep him quiet.

He showed up to the formal dinner later that night even more hammered. After spilling his drink at our table and hitting on some wifes, he was escorted out. We all flew back and forth from the Manchester New Hamshire area (7 total) and our flight was after lunch so we told him all about the events of that night, as he didn't remember a thing. Nice guy just too much to drink.

The cruise is cool because you meet alot of new people from all over the country. We had meals with people from Montana, Cali, Texas (who offered us a place to stay when I told them I wanted to move to Texas) and so on.

I like the fact that the significant others are treated as well as the techs. My wife competed in every event she could get into. The spark plug challenge was a trick for her. That one guy that one the event had his technique dialed!

wow small world! I was going to post up here before I left but forgot. It would have been nice to meet you. I met lots of great people and even some familiar faces from AZ that Ive attended training with. Who knows I might have even come across you and not even known it! It was a long week for me since I had to go a day early and wait an entire day for a plan ride back.

The drunk was funny, I was laughing so hard at the dude. However on the other had I felt he disrespected the group and made a fool of himself. Not good PR for us techs to the head guys at ford. Im sure there is always one like that tho. I was wondering what happened to him that night. I never saw him after the idol event. I did however see him the next day by the pool trying to recover. I was like "hey theres the drunk guy!"

He was affectionately dubbed "Frank the Tank" afterwards.

To give you an idea of how far Ford goes with the event, this fellow missed the cruise last year by 5 minutes due to airline screwups. Ford brought him back this year no questions asked.

I'm gonna bet they do the same thing next year because one of the no shows whose name was called at the final event missed the boat due to family reasons, I think.

Well, mister, I'll have you know I got a really neat "ProTec" decal and hat and golf shirt (I don't wear golf shirts).

Actually, this was an "attaboy" from the engineer that was minding the message board at the time - apparently I pissed off some people that needed pissing of, or something like that.

The day that my "attaboys" came in the dealer mail, I had several message board posts either taken under review or deleted.....

Sadly, Tony, the Canadian tech message board and the US tech message board are two separate entities. For some reason, Ma Ford has decided that you and we probably wouldn't play well together.

We don't get to see your folks messages and you don't get to see ours.

Too bad.... I think it would be interesting.

Jim, i honestly think, with the type of posts you made here, you would have to take a week off to post on the Ford message board. You would be so overwhelmed by the whiningof labor times, and good amount of badmouthing Ford. It's a form of entertainment now. The webmaster would be working overtime to try and delete ure posts... LoL
