ICP Sensor Discrepancy

I know someone who installed the "new style" ICP sensor in a 2003 engine, on the HPOP. Truck runs fine but according to what I know and what my parts buddy tells me the sensor for 2003 engines is different and does not seem to supersede. More confusing yet, look on page 72 in this booklet ----> http://www.powerstrokediesel.com/documents/PSDmanual.pdf it lists 4C3Z-9F838-AB for all 6.0L engines... yet my part listing shows 3C3Z-9F838-EA for 2003 models.

Is this a misprint? A sign of pending obsolescence? Are the two interchangeable or will using the wrong one cause any driveability issues?

Anyone? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

Larry I know that... My question is the discrepancy in that booklet that I referenced with a link. There is no mention of the 3C3Z-EA at all! Really! Look fer yourself!

Makes you wonder whats going on. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif

Keith I have to believe that the technical writer screwed the pooch on this. It has to be because they didn't put that many of the 3C3Z-EA's in before they updated to the 4C3Z-AB's. Looks like as we find more mistakes this book will be a good place for notes and corrections.

The official answer is: The 4C3Z-AB's are a communized part and work properly on all 6.0L engines including the VT-365 in the F650/750. The old 3C3Z-EA's will continue to show as the correct part until stock has been depleted... and will then disappear from all part listings.
