ICP problems

Early 2003 F250 6.0.

Owners complaint was truck ran fine then started to loose power and eventualy stopped. Truck was towed to independant garage and they know JACK about diesels. Garage called me and told me it had a hard fault low ICP code engine running. I asked what the pressure and volts were. That was like talking to the wall. Anyway they bought a sensor from us, borrowed my socket and replaced it. I told him to be certain to check for oil leaking from the sensor into the harness. The changed it and said it had leaked oil.

They test drove it and it broke down again (gee). Crank no start (hot). Now one of my techs scanned it, it started up when cold and ran but missed like *rap. Had a ICP low running code again and multiple injector codes. Icp psi is normal according to the ids. Didn't check the volts.

Do I have a failing injector causing this? Is the oil in the icp wire harness causing this. This tk has a long warranty history of ICP problems, multiple ingectors. When I glanced at the coolant tank, it was check round full and blackish. Probably blown oil cooler.

Owner picked up the missing truck and drove it home. I don't have time to get at it right now, to busy with others. They are bringing it back again later.

p2285 is usually always the sensor and connector (ive never seen a icp sensor not leak into the connector with this code). P2291 is oil leak somewhere. Last early 03 that was a p2291 no start was a blown o-ring under the HPP. Had 99,995 on the ticker. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif. No start hot? air leak test it. We had an extra HPP supply tube around and we threading a nut into the top opening so we could air leak test it with the cover off.

The only high pressure oil leaks I recall on any 2003 engines were the injector inlet seals. I don't remember any of the now more common leaks personally. I do recall two HPOP doing what you are describing. Maybe you could get the covers off and dead head it to check the pump. I haven't seen anybody mention it lately but plugging in the block heater will get the engine hot. About 170 deg-f. Since this is a hot engine concern it might help. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'll second the replace the harness connector advice.
