mchan68 Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 I posted photos of both sides of our shop as of last Thursday. There were 3 6.0 F250's with cabs lifted, 2 for headgaskets and the other for a short block due to the tone ring being loose on the crankshaft. The other one is a cube van that had a leaking EGR cooler and the driver drove it hard until it hydrolocked at 120kph,(trying to blow it up I guess?). Hotline told the tech working on it just to replace the cooler as "those engines are pretty strong". It was started and then, after filling the crankcase with diesel, started to run away, but miraculously quit after only a few seconds of running with the key out of the ignition and the tech running away as he yelled "run away". Upon dropping the pan and finding a broken piston and scored cylinder, an engine was put on order, but will take at least 2 weeks to arrive. I haven't figured out how to add the photos to this posting, so maybe Keith is able to do it from his end. Thanks Keith. Click onto "PhotoPost" in the forum menu up top. You will be automatically logged into PhotoPost as long as you are logged into the forums. Click on the "Upload Photos" link. In the upload page look for the section that says: "Select the photos you wish to upload from your computer:" click on the button that says "Browse" on the right side of the text box. A window will pop up titled chose file and the contents of your computer will show... locate the picture you want to upload and double click it. The file should automatically appear in the submit box. Click on the Upload/submit button and the picture will upload into our PhotoPost directory where it can be viewed and linked to in our forum. Click on your photo and look below it to find the UBB Code text box. Below that box is a button labeled "copy to clipboard." click it and the code will be copied to your Windows clipboard. Go back to the forums, write your post and to enter your picture, place the cursor where you want it placed in your post, right click on your mouse then left click on "paste" and the code will be pasted from your Windows clip board. Ditto on the cheesy aftermarket crap in these things. Mine had a idle shutdown deal on it so it will only run for 3 minutes once it is idling in park. Fredsvt Posted February 14, 2009 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Waiting for me next week: An '01 F550 7.3 ZF6 drill rig. Asked to check for DOT. It needs complete rear brakes (cooked), oil pan, 2 manifolds, up pipes. As all of these badly beat trucks, the clutch should be shot, along with the pto adapter. I can feel my back crying already. I guess $11 bucks an hour is better than $0 bucks an hour. I'll try it at the dealership again Thursday. Not sure how long our doors are gonna be open at this rate. Parts at a indy....Been here for a few years now. Doing quite well and getting busier by the day.(By the way Keith I haven't forgot about you) We launched our new website fanclutch.com. Almost as soon as it went live we started getting hits. Right now I have about a dozen jobs I'm working on. We specialize in obsolete and hard to find fan blade and clutches. The jobs that are worthy of mentioning...I have a 72" fan blade I will be shipping to the U.K. on friday, another 72" blade going to Brazil in 2 weeks and a 36.25 blade I will be shipping to Vancouver tomorrow. I just sent a blade to MHC Kenworth in Kansas city this week to get a guy up and running until his warranty blade comes in from Horton. I pushed my boss for the last 2 years to get this up and running. He now sees what we can do, it's a pretty specialized market and pretty much we are the only ones doing it. Busy??? Brad Clayton Posted June 17, 2009 Share Posted June 17, 2009 I forgot to mention that the inboard exhaust valve talked the number 5 piston into allowing it to give it a nice tatoo. I'm a gambling man, but I'm too cheap to gamble with actual cash so I use my bookable hours. So I'm putting all my chips on FQR. '04 F-250 that I'm chasing an intermittent stalling and dying randomly that I haven't been able to duplicate with the customer present yet.
