snw blue by you
I could have sworn I saw a message that said somewhere there was a list of kits of the hardware needed to perform jobs, yet I now can not find it nor does the hotline know anything. I remember it had something to do with customer convenience, so the customer would not have to wait so long and neither would the tech reuse hardware we are not supposed to. Any help? Thanks, Steph. snw blue by you
Nevermind. It was SSM 19841, and there are no kits, least none that I saw. Stupid!

Keith Browning
You mean this? Quote: OASIS SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE NUMBER: 19841 MESSAGE TITLE: 2008 F-SUPER DUTY 6.4L - SERVICE TIP - TO AID IN REDUCING VEHICLE DOWNTIME APPLICABLE VEHICLES : 2008 TRUCK : 00028 F-SERIES OASIS MESSAGE : 2008 F-SUPER DUTY 6.4L - SERVICE TIP - TO AID IN REDUCING VEHICLE DOWNTIME, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE TECHNICIAN REVIEW THE ONLINE VERSION OF THE SHOP MANUAL FOR COMPLETE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT DIRECTIONS. WHEN REMOVING THE CAB TO SERVICE THE TURBOCHARGER, HP FUEL PUMP MANY SMALL PARTS THAT ARE NOT INTENDED FOR RE-USE WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, (SEALS, GASKETS, WASHERS). PLEASE REFER TO THE PARTS CATALOG TO DETERMINE WHAT KITS ARE AVAILABLE TO AID IN THESE SERVICE REPAIRS. TAKING NOTE OF THE REQUIRED ANCILLARY PARTS AND REVIEWING THE AVAILABLE KITS PRIOR TO PLACING YOUR INITIAL SERVICE PART ORDER WILL AID IN REDUCING VEHICLE DOWNTIME. REUSING PARTS WHEN THE SHOP MANUAL STATES THEY SHOULD BE DISCARDED, MAY CAUSE FUTURE CONCERNS. APPLICABLE SYMPTOM CODES : 400000 ENGINE 499000 ENGINE BASIC ENGINE I don't know what "kits" this refers to but I don't recall my parts guy coming across such a listing. None the less, I thought about this when I did my first cab off for a fuel pump. I ordered parts twice because I didn't realize exactly what I needed. Creating a list of parts required for jobs, like fuel pumps, would be wise. Having a list is as good as having a kit, no? Seems like I always forget something these days!
