dieseldoc
What is your guys opinion on winter fronts on 6.0s? I have had a few guys ask me about them and not sure what to tell them. My opinion is use one when it gets below zero(like it does here from late nov.- may). I tell my guys to buy one that opens up, open it when you tow, and when the temp gets above 0, than take it off when the temp stays above 20 regularly. I have been told conflicting answers from the ford dealer. You guys get to work on these every day and just wondering your thoughts on the subject. LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
I think the key here is if your guy's/cust's will listen to what you advise as to the best practice with the winterfronts. It depends on how close you are with them and if they will listen to you. The better the relationship you have with them the better off you will be. They will take you're advise and do what you tell them if it's a sound piece of info. Lets face it most of them have been to the "dirty" websites and gotten a lot of "GARBAGE" from them. Hey I think I'm sounding a little like Jim here. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif
Jim Warman
Most of our customers like those stainless steel screen fronts... We rarely see any "traditional" vinyl winterfronts... But we do have a couple of guys that go whole hog.... belly tarp and the whole nine yards. FWIW, it's been zero F or right around it for the last week. I can't say if it's the vehicles that have changed or the customers.... we don't even see that much cardboard stuffed in front of radiators, these days. LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Just wait it will happen the "old timers" that think you have to cover the fronts with cardboard. It will come!! It always does!! They just don't know any better!!
Alex Bruene
Ahhh... cardboard... better known around here as, "The Newfie Thermostat". We have a few come in now and then with the leather ones, I think as long as they use the "flaps" properly they should be okay. The air-filter restriction guage is usually a pretty good indicator if it is causing too much of a restriction.
