ANY OF YOU GUYS KNOW THE PART NUMBER FOR THE BATTERY TO CUMMINS AND ALLISON TRANSMISSION HARNESS? IT IS A 4 WIRE HARNESS WHICH RUNS POWER FROM THE BATTERIES TO THE ENGINE ECM AND ALLISON TCM.THEY HAVE FUSE HOLDERS AND USE METRIPACK CONNECTORS. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Sorry Anthony can't help with the part# I'll leave that to Larry.

I will guess and say that you found the harness cut and corroded at the standoff where the Mexicans tie strap it so tight it smashes it and cuts the insulation, it won't short and blow the fuse because the standoff is plastic it just feaster's till it is green.

I just repair the harness, the splice kit from ford works well but I usually supplement the crimps with a drop of solider then heat shrink them but any kind of repair will work as long as you protect it from the elements with a high quality double wall heat shrink.

YUP GOTTA LOVE IT. ITS NUMBER 4 TO BE TOWED IN THIS WEEK WITH A NO START OR TRANS LAMP ILLUMINATED.ALWAYS THE RED WIRE CHAFFED AND CORRODED TO DEATH.BELIEVE ITS CKT 103. ILL GET THE VIN WED. HAVE A GREAT,SAFE HOLIDAY GUYS!

It's the same bloody Mexicans putting tie straps to tight!!!

 

Just kidding... I had a similar situation with ISC Cummins powered but in International chassis. When the truck went down the assembly line the OE truck harness wasn't long enough, and in the end the assemblers pulled on both harness's and which do you think gave? The engine side of course.. we had trucks coming thru with up to 18 codes at one time, Cummins/International had us chasing our tails for weeks with this problem. All the while come to find out it was the assemblers that did this,re: Internationals problem.

seems to be a huge problem with anything internationals involved with. engine or chassis harness are ususlly too tight. these units were all 2006 and 2007 units with cummins isb and allison combos.

Have you guys seen the '08 IH engines with the rubber molded wiring harnesses yet? Too cool, and almost no way there will be vibration problems. I'm sure this will filter down to all of their engines, and probably PSD's, Ford MD's and Chevy MD's in the next couple of years.

That is different. What bothers me more now is the use of plastic coolant hoses. Anyone that has worked on the new engines knows that it's not just that one on top, there is one coming off the front cover toward the degas bottle. I cringe working near them.

Just the opposite here most of mine were CAT C7/Alison but I had 1 ISB/Alison

and two CAT C7/Spicer 6 speeds no stars.

Getting back to this topic... I remembered this one! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Have me a 2004 F650 with a 6.0L on it. Stalls and starts up and exhibits the signs of a PCM reset not to mention an intermittent no crank concern.

 

Long story short I found low voltage at the ECM and IDM relays which were buzzing. Traced circuit #785 from the relays and found a connector internally melted. This was in the 14A411 "clean battery feed jumper harness" that connects between the fused harnesses on the batteries and the engine chassis harness at the left front area of the engine. Wire colors vary from brown, red and black/green.

This clean power feed has been a pattern failure in IH trucks for well over a decade now. This truck might say Ford on the cab, but I'm sure you know it's built by IH. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
