kmack4 Posted January 31, 2008 Share Posted January 31, 2008 first 6.4 engine knock in shop-rem and disassembled-mains toast removed waterpump and found front cover etched out porosity galore and waterpump impeller ground down. my question why didnt enhanced fail safes disable motor. replaced rad on another 6.4 2nd time.removed waterpump for inspection and what do you know cover is showing signs of wear and porosity at 8k. have anybody else seen this? In my case the shortblock das not making noise and was told by hotline "Its ok, they used marine grade bearings.
