Keith Browning
Super duty spare tire wench with the special lock that snaps onto the end of the crank arm is missing from a truck we need to repair. (trying to get a new one) Does anyone know id there is a master key set like we have for wheel covers and tire lugs?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Keith I believe that you need to call McGard @ 1-800-444-5847 with the key code for a replacement key. The base # is 1A380 and is not serviced by Ford.
Keith Browning
Larry, The original key was lost, possibly before the truck was delivered so my fleet department is eating the repair. Without the key code you cant get a replacement key for the existing lock. If I had a master key set could at least get the tire down and install a new lock insert and key. Since I cant do that, the tech is going to have to cut the winch cable to remove the tire and replace the winch and lock and make sure the new key end up in the glove box! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif Oh the wasted time this is causing! LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Keith, oops I'm sorry I forgot to tell you that you should be able to order the master set from McGard. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif
CERTIFIEDFORDTEC
Without the lock you can use a socket on the end of a long extension or extensions. I forget what size socket i used but you can tap it on with a hammer and then use your ratchet to lower the tire. I beleieve it was like a 9/16 12 point. Jim Warman
I just use a long screwdriver to pop the plastic guide tube off and then pop the "key" out of the winch.... After that, the jack handle fits with no adapters...
