Coolcat390
I've been chassing a coolant leak in a '06 E450 for about a week now. Usally coolant leaks are from the back of the motor but this was in front. I'd replaces the lower radator hose, the heater tube o-ring, and the main o-ring between the intake manifold and front cover, and the leak was still there. So after removing the fan shroud and fan i finally saw the leak. A small hair line crack in the front cover under the boss for one of the idler pulleys. Then after removing the water pump a chunk of the pump was missing and alot of aluminium from the cover was missing also. Has anyone eles seen anything like is? Hopefully this isnt a start of a trend.
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Was it pitted and cavitated or was it broken like a bolt or dowel or something else came loose? Or maybe a front end accident problem that wasn't caught?
Coolcat390
It was pitted from cavitation. Pictures to come.
