Head studs...

Didn't know whether to post this here or in upgrades....

Over in the "monkeyhouse", there is a thread indicating that Ford is going to start supplying head studs rather than bolts.... Of course there is the "I know a guy that knows a guy" crew....

I can envision a switch to studs as OE supply opening a pandoras box... everyone and his dog will suddenly have coolant loss hoping to cash in on a "performance enhancement" for free.

Anbody hear anything?

And besides that, what would they do with the giant pile of old pot and pans and spring steel that they make the current head bolts out of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk2.gif .

I don't think ford would do that,I hope,I have never put head studs in(just tore down an engine that had them, see my pictures) but I think that you would have to remove the enigne or lift the cab to put head studs in,I don't see ford making a new service procedure or adding time to the labour time to do this,I hope they don't just for JIm's reason that everyone one and his dog would want us to install them, and a set of hypermax gaskets that can hold 500 hp, again see my pictures

I think head studs will fix the problems. Its like the 5.0L mustang... plethora of aftermarket parts to make it faster...but Ford gives us the platform to build on and make it better. If the customer wants more engineering and stamina...head studs are were its at. Ford has its reason's for doing things...lets not forget that. They have boatloads of laws/costs/efficiencies/time to deal with. We get the aftermath.
