systems, my group leader and I had a light bulb go off while i was messing with the 7.3l injecor tester (porta power with engine oil). We had a fitting and hose made to fit the icp sensor in the oil log . This little hand held pump is rated to 3 or 4k psi (we need to connect a working gauge tomorrow) The first truck we tried it on made a farting noise from the dummy plugs in the oil rails and shure as shit the orings were blown.

 

One thing we are unshure of is will the ipr hold this king of back pressure? With a guage and being able to close the ipr we are thinging we could use to differentiate between a leak in the piping and a bad HPOP.

 

We have tried using shop air for an air test but it never fails that we find all kind of "normally would not leak with oil" leaks once the oil is purged out

This kind of pressure won't hurt the IPR. it's made to handle 3-4K with no problem.

 

A very similar discussion was held last year on an E-van where the guy pulled the engine, hooked a Porto-Power pump to the access port in the rear of the HPOP cover, powered the IPR, and found leaks at the injector inlets. This was all done on an engine stand. It was a hard start hot after an injector change. I think it's a great idea.

cool. I did alittle digging around and all i found was the nitrogen thread, guess I should have looked alittle harder. Having to guess on the high pressure leaks is a gian pain in the ass

That's a friggin awsome idea! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif I liked it so much that after I read this post, I went and pulled our tester off the shelf and blew the dust off it. I use it for 7.3L injectors, but now I,m gonna rig it up for working on these Sick-0's.
