Keith Browning
Am I right in thinking The Blue Oval Certified program is done, finished, gone? I guess this question kinda shows how much it mattered huh? I still see dealer web sites with the Blue Oval logo displayed. I know my dealer was/is certified but I don't recall seeing anything related to the program now that I think about it. The reason I bring this up is I am cleaning out my desk filing cabinet and came across the 2001 Blue Oval Certifies Employee Benefits "D" Plan booklet. The web site http://www.blueovalcertified.com link now brings you to the main Ford Vehicles web site. Also, Last year I used "D" plan for my Father In Law to buy a truck and for a new Freestyle for Mrs. Ford Doctor. I'll use it again if that Diesel Fiesta makes it to our shores and actually produces the fuel economy promised... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/flamethrower.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ford.gif
DwayneGorniak
I think your right Keith. I havn't heard anything about Blue Oval in along time. It would be nice if they sent out a memo or bulletin to elaborate when they decide these things. but then again, maybe they did and no one cared to notice. Jim Warman
Somewhat off topic but in the same vein.... Keith wont remember this since, IIRC, it was a Canada "po' boy" limp dick pat on the ass... Dwayne SHOULD remember this stuff. First is the monthly tech quiz on InFord... All of the 100% entries were entered into a draw... The whoopie was only 50 bucks.... But it got a lot of guys thinking... and perhaps even learning... Aside from a little "administration" cost, there was $50 a month that Ford had to shell out. I'm sure that the shareholders rejoiced in this "new found" economy... The other that seems to have died was the $50 awarded for winning EDSRs.... Once the name was changed to GCR, the "attaboy" seemed to evaporate. Blue Oval Certified? There was the big hoopla when we first gained certification.... and then? "AH, AH, AH... it feels so..... over..." (Kathleen Turner - from "The Man With Two Brains"). It appears that the "Way Forward" is to save pennies and hope that the dollars will mind themselves. Ford scrapped the Taurus badge.... probably more successful than the pick ups when one considers profit margin... Mullaly brought it back (why ashcan your best seeler?) but it has the chance to be just like the rebirth of the T'Bird. These rocket scientists are too busy f@cking with the stuff that worked for them to realize that they should be experimenting with the stuff that isn't working.... But what the f@ck do I know???? On edit... friggin' typos again.... "Always proof read to be sure left something out"....
DwayneGorniak
I could be wrong, but I think that the majority of this industry here in Canada anyway became extremely tired of getting a fifty dollar reward only to get a kick in the ass with a friggin T4A at the end of year where the Government asked for their share of you wonderfull reward. I myself gave up on all of these goofy tricks. When I used to go to the Shop Foreman meetings in Edmonton, the topic of the GCR's came up. They couldn't understand why the numbers of GCR's being submitted was drastically dropping every year. I had the opportunity of cluing them in: It is simple, Flat rate techs don't get paid to do them to begin with, then they turn into TSB's which cut our throats financialy and then if it is unique, you get a fifty dollar Ata freakin boy with the wonderfull T4A kick in the ars at the end of the year just to give back to the damned government anyway. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif So yeah, I totally agree with you Jim. They try to reinvent what works and don't do anything about what is broken. Man it almost sounds like we are talking about the Sick-0's and 6.4's. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Sorry for the Canudiens, but when I was at Motor City and we were Blue oval certified, we never seen any of the perks, between the managers and the owners we were told that we didn't get anything. Only come to find out that the Dealer did recieve quite a bit of goodies and trips thru the Reps. Then the Freightliner Reps started coming thru for their certifications for both the parts and service side, me myself had 2 more tests to take and found out that my boss would get a trip to Hawaii for my cert., guess what I did, I forgot to do them and he lost out, Bummer for him..... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
Jim Warman
We were also promised "perks" from BO certification. We never did see them and I save that fact in the memory bank. At the same time, My DP offers me training that is unheard of in the aftermarket and, apparently, at some dealers... My wages are above average in our area in this industry.... I think this allows me to forgive some oversights. One of the things that polarized how people perceived me on message board is my stance on "gifts".. They are nice to get.... but we shouldn't expect them....
BrunoWilimek
Yup, blue oval was quietly swept under a rug somewhere. I think it only lasted about 2 or 3 years. We had one pizza lunch out of the whole thing here in service. The big share of the loot went to the sales department. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/flamethrower.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ford.gif
