HeuiTim
This just came to mind reading some other posts, last year my dad had an engine light on his 2001 F150 4.6 so he used my $40 scanner and found the evap sensor code. He also had extended 6/60 warranty which was still in effect at the time. I have replaced this in my escort and found it for around 20 bucks after shopping around. I told him it should be covered under the emission warranty so let Ford fix it. He brings it to Ford, he waits for it, a CarQuest parts truck shows up and 5 minutes later his truck is done and he has a bill for about $300. I was under the impression that emissions were warrantied for a longer period of time? Or is it just a shady dealer? - And I know the techs have nothing to do with this. LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Just off hand what part was charged out on the w/o. A a/m part # or did they get a a/m and bill him for a Ford part?

Bruce Amacker
I was under the impression that emissions were warrantied for a longer period of time? Emissions warranty used to be 5/50 years ago but changed to 2/24 with the exception of the PCM and cat, which are 8/80. His 6/60 was probably an "internally lubricated parts only" warranty and not bumper to bumper. Your Dad should have gotten an estimate? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
Jim Warman
Like Bruce was getting at... assuming something can be both dangerous and embarassing (look at my one reply to the AWD... errr...., I meant WAD thread). If anyone has ESP, you can tell if the causal part is covered when you run OASIS... for everything else there's the good old warranty procedures manual...
