Engineering has identified a production run of 171 pieces that potentially have a valve issue. Distributors and dealers are to inspect their inventory to identify the suspect parts and return them. ACTION REQUIRED Step 1 Isolate and quarantine all stock part number 3C3Z-6049-CARM that have pack dates from 5/1/08 thru 5/29/08. Go to Step 2. (See attachment for a picture of the pack date location) Resume selling stock with pack dates outside this date range (before 5/1/08 or after 5/29/08). There is no potential quality issue with these parts. Step 2 Locate the serial number on the box for isolated stock with pack dates from 5/1/08 thru 5/29/08. It is hand written in the upper left corner of the box. See attachment above for a picture of the serial number. If the first two characters in the serial number are letters, you may sell the part. There is no potential quality issue. Example: AJ035. If either of the first two characters of the serial number is a number, the part is suspect stock and needs to be returned. Examples: 307; 621; F389; P387. Step 3 Return suspect stock to your Powertrain Distributor who will arrange a part exchange. CYLINDER HEADS USED IN REPAIRS Engineering is reviewing what action, if any, is required for suspect parts that have been installed on vehicles. REPLACEMENT STOCK IS AVAILABLE All parts at the supplier have been verified. Dealers should order 3C3Z-6049-CARM from their Powertrain Distributor.
