Another EGR valve?!

Same truck that had the siezed valve I posted pics of just came back.

EGR Pics

3K miles AND 1.5 months later same DTCs P0297,P0404,P042F, and a stuck valve.

I was able to get this one out of the intake but just barely, cracked the valve on the way out.

No coolant loss, valve and intake not wet, VEGR cooler looks dry with boroscope, EBP sensor dry and not melted.

No steam or white smoke from exhaust, in fact customer has said that when he sees smoke it is black and not a huge amount, almost as if the valve sticks open, however the P042F is a closed DTC.

Any ideas and has anyone had anything similar?

Take a fuel sample. I'd bet he's not using ULS fuel.

Also, if there is black smoke from the exhaust, he has a cracked DPF.

Yeah, I had a similar truck that has gotten three valve in total so far. Very low mileage township unit and we could never find a root cause. We (me and engineering) thought it might be the fuel too. Come to think of it, it has been just about long enough for the truck to return. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
