Hey Justin what did you find on this turbo issue? I recently replaced a high pressure turbo with a seized unison assembly but despite my intentions I never got around to opening it up to determine what happened.

Wow, Ford doesn't want us to try and patch these things up? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

When I worked in London, we did a 6.4 motor, and Pat had me (i'm a rather large fellow) grab that actuator arm with the key off, and pull it as HARD as I could - wouldn't budge. We're thinking that this was a partial contributing factor to the engine failure, but engineering would not allow us to take the engine apart. The new engine came COMPLETE. Almost like it was yanked right off the assembly line.

mr browning, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. the rattle acually had nothing to do with the turbo. i was inspecting the hp fuel pump and noticed the drive gear on the cam was loose and rattling. ford wanted to replace the engine. i havnt heard anything since

I didn't say that. The silly thing was jammed hard therefore I simply followed the pinpoint test and installed a new high pressure turbo. I am not sure if these turbos are even serviceable and it's not like it was simply rusted or carboned up. Remember, I broke the control arm trying to disconnect the control rod from the actuator.

Or as I've always said, (referencing myself) "Or as the ladies like to call me, 'hey you, behind the bushes!' "
