G. Bedford
Thanks for the tip! And thank you even more for sharing it here and not on the Ford site.
Keith Browning
Quote: Thanks for the tip! And thank you even more for sharing it here and not on the Ford site. Yes, Thank you! It took me a minute to figure out what you were describing so I opened my "Bible" (by the way, I hate that name /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif ) and saw on page 20, image 36, of the 2004 version booklet what you were describing. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif Kudos to you! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif Would you guys like a version of those booklets (Bibles) linked right here in the forums for reference? I own both copies. I just figured that it seems everyone else is posting it on their web site, why bother but...

Jim Warman
Keith... just a note for everyone.... I think we should all have this kind of stuff resident on our hard drives. My laptop.... (in amongst the requiste joke and porn bookmarks) has the following installed (40 gig HDD).... All the latest sevice DVDs (yes, you don't need the discs), the APCM manual, both 6.0 "bibles", WDS desktop mode, owners manuals for al my power tools and household appliances, the spreadsheet we use for all our special tools (like Tool Crib, only free), my calendar, my diary, my fave CAD proggie, a couple of movies, hours and hours of tunes and Gawd knows what else. We should all move into the 21st century and embrace the technology that is driving those things we work on. Your bandwidth and storage can't be free... no sense in clogging it with stuff that a guy should have close at hand.
Keith Browning
Okay, Does anyone know what the part number for the REPLACEMENT ORANGE EGR COOLANT HOSE is? I know this was an SSM but I cant seem to bring it up. The kit was to make the hose itself available without having to order an EGR cooler. PWRStrokeMaster
4C4Z-8592-AA Hose, also available in the 3C3Z-9433-AA kit, which includes the intake o-ring and exhaust flange gasket.
G. Bedford
The last intake set I got the hose was orange. The cylinder head gasket kit and the EGR cooler came with a blue hose. The blue color and feel reminded me of the high temp. silicone heater hoses you see. Is the orange being replaced by the blue?
Keith Browning
4C4Z-8592-AA Hose, also available in the 3C3Z-9433-AA kit, which includes the intake o-ring and exhaust flange gasket. Thanx! That was quick and a new member at that. Welcome to FDDTS. The 4C4Z-AA number was the one I wanted. The Motorcraft number is RH153. The box contains the orange hose only and you use the short cut mentioned above. Works like a charm. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif I also saw the blue hose in the valve grind kit that I used on that head gasket job. Perhaps the part may eventually switch over but the hose in the box today was orange.
Keith Browning
it is two piece and the port the hose attaches to does come off...so twist the hose and push back with a bar and remove two torx 30 bolts and gently wiggle the cover up it took some wiggling because of a oring but it came off ....just a little trick i tried i thought i would share My team mate had trouble getting the lower piece off like mentioned, due to the o-ring. I want to offer a word of caution about getting in there and trying to pry it up. If you use a lady finger type pry bar, you can get under the outlet where the hose slides and locks onto. BE CAREFUL not to damage this sealing surface or scratch it up too heavily... or you will be doing this one over again! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
DieselD
Got a chance to try this today, It took a little longer and kinda a hassle but it was worth it. I found you had to use a small ratchet and torx bit to get the bolt hiding near the turbo. I have a nice little 1/4 drive female snapon ratchet that works wonders for this(also works awesome on the right oil rail when doing injectors) I couldnt get the old oragne hose off easy. I had to cut it and fight it to get it off, even then it decided to come apart and leave the metal housing with the o-ring stuck on the cooler. None the less I got it replaced this way within an hour so its not bad. Thanks for the tip!
eastendpowerstroke
Since when the hell can you get just the hose????? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif I guess I'm giving my parts guys to much credit and they are a dumb as I think they are, every time I ask they tell me you can't get just the hose gotta get the whole egr cooler. FordTechCA
umm on the 03 motor with the round egr cooler the last 4 ive done ive twisted the hose and slide it back just enough to clear the housing it attaches too then slowly pry up on the pipe from the cooler just enough to slide off the hose and slide on the new hose, push down on the pipe to re-attach. charge it out normal and you just made a butt load of time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif havent had one leak yet. key is to pry slowly. yes the pipe bends with ease
Torqued_Up
I cracked the weld on one of those tubes by moving that tube around. I would be afraid to bend one intentionally. With my luck I would break em all and that would definately suck. Poppin that cover off works just fine for me but if bending the tube works for you then more power to ya. FordTechCA
ive only done it on the round egr coolers but the other day after reading and responding to this thread i looked at the next 6.0L and mentioned the cover pull that was suggested here to another tech and we both said duh! that would be fast too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
Tony302600
Just did my first one today with ure trick, did it without removing turbo. removed cac tube, took torx out with swivel and rachet, then other diesel tech gave me a t30 bit ( not socket just bit ) and a angled 1/4 5/16 box wrench that he hammered the bit in so it would stay, and it gives more then enough clearance to get under the compressor side of the turbo where that bolt is under. did the total repair in 30-45 min. I'll take pictures next time so you guys can see what im talking bout if confused.
