David Cothren
Got a 03 F250,66,851 miles, with hard fault code P0113 and memory U0105. If you turn the switch on and it buzzes, it will start. Watching pids when it is running, the only thing that changes when it dies is the ficm sychro pid. The hotter it gets the worse it gets. Has anyone seen the ficm act like this? Sometimes the ficm relay goes to buzzing like crazy. Replaced relay and truck still dies.
ktmlew
Take a wooden dowel, hammer handle, etc, and push on the FICM harness. Just wiggle it around and see if the truck dies. If it does you will likely find an intake bolt has abraided the harnness. It shorts to ground and quits. There is a recall out for this now. Keith Browning
I looked in the PCED (which I certainly hope you did) and I would focus on the U0105. The pinpoint tests, which get lengthy, look at the FICM relay power and grounds and then the network circuits. The FICM has TWO power supplies. It receives a 12V power supply from the ignition switch and the second comes from the FICM relay WHICH THE FICM ITSELF CONTROLS BY PROVIDING GROUND TO TO THE RELAY. This power source is for the coil side of the module (injectors). Perform pinpoint tests "AS" and see what you come up with. "The hotter it gets the worse it gets" makes me think the FICM is going bad.
