skidoo700
Trying to remove egr valve and the nut on the bottom of the tool that contacts the top of the egr keep unthreading as I try to remove the valve. How to prevent or what to do?
Keith Browning
I know there is a topic on this but I couldn't find it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I did find the picture of the tool and the message to apply thread locker to the nut before using. I learned that in the 6.4L class. I was in the 2nd class and John Clark had the same problem in the first class when they used the tool for the first time. skidoo700
Thanks for the heads up, I did locktite the nut and went to remove the valve, 87,000 in this one. Pulled the threads off the end of the tool, valve would not move.
mlee
we have done the same to 2 egr tools, pulled the threads right off the end. the newest one is now welded, hasn't broke yet.
Keith Browning
Our tool just pulled the threads off the shaft. Dammit! Do these tools have a warranty? No matter, we need one so off the SM I go to request a replacement. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rotz.gif
kridd12
Ours just broke and when we phoned to get a new one they said it would be warranty because they have had too many problems with the old design.
Mikill
I haven't ran into an EGR valve problem yet but a couple of techs in the shop have had good results with the air hammer. Basically vibrate it loose and out.

Lucky you ! We had to pay three hundred an somthin to replace Ford's defective mandatory tool. Yeah. That's fair. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif
