robp823
have an 03 f-550 with some icp codes cant remember them off hand but one had a tsb with it for putting a new pigtail on the icp connector. Has anyone seen the harness to the icp melting or rubbing on anything on an 03 with the icp behind turbo stuffed back there. Also if oil is coming through the sensor into the connector part of the sensor will that set some codes possibly give you a bad icp reading.help always appreciated! Alex Bruene
I have seen wiring damage way up into the harness from ICP sensor leaks... I've seen them just about melt the 3 wires together also... A leaking ICP sensor is just about always gives a biased signal. Check your KOEO ICP voltage... it should read around 0.18V... Replacing the sensor and pigtail using the proper crimp connections is a reliable fix. I think that's what you're asking.
Keith Browning
I agree with Alex, it's a pretty common failure and it can make a mess from the oil leaking as mentioned. It is definitely a good idea to replace the harness pig-tail and be aware that the new sensor may not look the same as it may be the newer style that replaces the old sensors with the sensor from 2004 and newer trucks. Here is what the sensor typically looks like in this situation...
