I have a 2001 F-350 with an exhaust leak at the manifold where it meets the cylinder head. anybody have any luck installing a gasket,or have a part number for a gasket. My parts guys says no listing.

Or should I just do what I suspect is the best way and replace the manifold????

No broken bolts? Usually We see a few bolts rotted out or snapped off. The job almost always requires a new manifold and all bolts after extracting or drilling out the broken ones. I don't recall there being gaskets available for a 7.3L but I suppose anything is possible in the aftermarket. Personally I would prefer to see gaskets there.

Fel-Pro makes them and they work.

I do not have P/N as I haven't used them in a while.

Anyone have a long lasting fix for leaking up-pipes on 7.3's ? An accordion style pipe a la 6.0 would probably stop the 75K mile leaks from pipe moving in and out of ring seal but that isn't available anywhere.

I have had good luck just having the manifolds sent to a local machine shop and having them resurfaced if they are not too badly warped or damaged, and new bolts are required as I believe the factory ones are torque prevailing bolts and should not be reused.

Jimmy, I know International makes a set with the flex bellow in them for the 7.3, it is a set that is both pipes and the collector to the turbo all one piece to get rid of the ring gasket failing. If I find the part number I will post it up, the cost was right around the $300 mark IIRC.

That setup would be the cats ass if I had not just replaced the pipes and gaskets last month. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

I didn't see any broken bolts, I was thinking I didn't want the poor old guy to have to buy new manifolds he's recently spend a ton on repairs. on the other hand the truck is just about fully broken in (380+k miles) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif and I guess it's really due for some new parts..

About a month ago I had an '01 engine out and upside down for a rotted oil pan. Along with that both manifolds were leaking at the heads and both up pipes had blown donuts.

I found all the manifold bolts were there but backed out.

The manifolds at the rear were warped nearly .125", two new manifolds, gaskets, pipes, and that damned inlet adapter as it cracked in two trying to get the up pipe flange bolts out.

I guess they didn't like the heat from the supposed 175hp chip (printed with that and "powerstroke steroids") the damn environmental company drivers were running on an F550 that's always overloaded. No wonder I've put 6 ZF6s in this thing. That chip is long gone now. Now their boss wants limiters. Go figure.
