snw blue by you
04 250 H-D. Vehicle is low on coolant, possibly injesting it, customer says he sees smoke, did not verify, but, I can smell it, level is low and system loses pressure, no external leaks. I am trying to remove the glow plugs, but the harnesses seem to be glued in. The only thing left of the harnesses are the plugs in the head. Anybody run into this and have some advise. This is the first time in some 100+ vehicles Thanks for any help. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif
Keith Browning
Wow, that bites. Let get this straight, you tried to remove the buss bar and in the process pulled the wires out and left the connectors in the head? Wow! Try a right angled drill and an easy out? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
ktmlew
Use a small slide-hammer with a screw in the end of it. Been there, done that!
TOOBADQ
I have heard that the glowplug harnesses are truly glued in (navistar FSE). I have had to pick the hard plastic plugs out with a good set of picks before. Best of luck.
snw blue by you
Thanks guys. Thankfully 5&7 came out after much pulling and cursing, 1&3 I was able to drill and remove w/ a hose removal tool. I removed the vacuum res. and valve cover for additional access. Thanks again! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
AMCTech
I've had that problem, too, and on an overheated unit. The connectors were very difficult to remove, with a few that were very tough, even with a fork they seem to break apart. I just had to slug my way through the whole evolution. Keith Browning
The funny thing about all of this is that for the most part these glow plug busses tend to loosen up and pop out enough to cause an oil leak on many trucks. I will admit that I have had one or two cylinders stick a little but only enough to cause damage to the buss bar rendering it unusable. I find the tool helpful but with the lack of room to work in on the right side it's not foolproof!
