BustedKnucklez
I got an '03 with the ICP sensor on the HPOP. It gives a little bit of black smoke during hard acceleration at speed which is what the customer is complaining about. It has no codes and the only thing that I really see off is that the ICP sensor is reading .13V KOEO. Would that cause that kind of problem? The truck runs good. Keith Browning
The truck runs good. Well, just how much smoke are we talking about? A little smoke is normal.
BustedKnucklez
It's just a puff of black smoke. It's not continuous.
Jeff_E
normal to see a little smoke on hard acceleration. Your ICP is bias though and should be replaced... probably the connector too. And doing so may even reduce the smoke, but you will never get rid of all of it.
DwayneGorniak
Spec for ICP is .18v to .24v. I would change that ICP. I have seen many cause black smoke.
Bruce Amacker
Ditto on the ICP and pigtail. The cat may be at fault, also, as it's job is to burn particulates. Good Luck! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
BustedKnucklez
Replacing the ICP worked. No more black smoke. I wiggle tested the pigtail and it was fine so I just left it alone. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
