Keith Browning
It wasn't just those vans in for the recall 05E15 that were affected buy a calibration update that caused a false P1334 & P0488 top be set in continuous memory. Many a truck had this happen. For the unaware, those codes are for the EGR Throttle Plate: Minimum stop performance/range performance. The PCM tolerances were too tight. To correct this concern, update your WDS to the software level 38.10 and reprogram the modules. This was released on August 11th I was told. dieseldeitrick
were there any driveability issues with this? i just rececntly had this happen to me and I am at the latest level on ids/vcm. I have driveabilty issues, surge, heitate, quirky idle and poor fuel mileage. no lite on, but ther are dtc's p1334, p0401 p0488. just last week replaced egr and ficm , reprogrammed pcm/ficm/tcm. we did rectify some of the concerns, but still left with the ones i mentioned. Keith Browning
Wow, that post was over four years ago. Shoot, I don't recall for sure but I think that this was specifically about the false codes. At this point if you are diagnosing a concern I would definitely make sure that your modules are up to date which you did. IF the codes you listed are still coming up I would suspect you actually HAVE a problem with the EGR throttle plate/circuit. I do recall having one go bad. ONE. Have you performed the appropriate pinpoint tests for the EGRTP?
dieseldeitrick
That's where I will be digging into this morning. So far, I tried to do an EGR systems test using IDS/VCM, it passed until I got to start engine tests and failed due to MAF out of spec. It is slightly out of spec,(1.8v)the truck has aftermarket exhaust and air intake. I spoke with tech hotline and decided to ignore that. I find this website to be so helpful that I always check it out for guidance.
Keith Browning
I also meant to suggest that if "normal diagnostics" fail to find a problem with the EGRET that you spend some time with Data Logger and especially pay attention to the position signal VOLTAGE, widen the display for that PID to make it easier to see excessive variances and spikes in the voltage. dieseldeitrick
Well. it runs great! Customer is very broke, but very happy. Seems he bought someone else's problem at the used car lot. Come to find out with alot of help from Zog, DTS and Ford, we got it fixed. I ended up putting a throttle body on it to rid of egr concerns. It did pin-point test good except at koeo. erratic reading and at times had a mind of it's own. I got rid of the Air Raid system and installed Ford OEM as recommended. I put 8 injectors in it and drained the questionable fuel and debris out of the tank. I added couple of bottles of cetane/relearned egr and she runs like a raped ape! Thanks for your help!
