Jwebb1981
For those who have read my last post I have just now gotten that dang /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif y-pipe /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif off. Of course if that wasn't hard enough the owner of the truck just called and wanted a oil leak looked at on the LH side of engine. I crawled under the truck and can see oil from the head and block area. Well since I can't start the truck and really don't feel like doing double work. Can somebody give me advise on how to find it while it is tore down. It's a 93 F550 6.0l. thanks
AMCTech
It might be a little too messy to locate the root cause as the engine sits now. The most effective method would be to add some dye tracer to the crankcase oil and proceed with leak detection diagnostics. You'll find several TSB/SSA's that reference 6.0 lube oil leak methods; they mention bedplate striation (God help you), CMP/CKP leaks, etc. Run OASIS with symptoms and follow the PC/ED yellow brick road! Jim Warman
Unplug the ICP and see if there is oil inside the sleeve over the wiring harness.
