Jwebb1981
I hate to keep bothering you guys but I have run into another problem with my 6.0. I found that the Icp harness has a open in it was informed by OASIS to replace connector. The connector that I have is a 3 pin and the sensor on the truck is a 2 pin. Another tech here at the shop told me that I have to replace the sensor also. My question is what 2 wire on the new connector needs to be tied into the old harness. thanks
Keith Browning
You are not being a bother, asking questions is what this site is for. Are you aware that the ICP sensor is located behind the IPR? The IPR is the regulator and IT has a two pin connector. The ICP has a three pin connector. Welcome to the wonderful world of the 6.0! Getting to the sensor is not easy and there are two ways to do it according to what I hear. Some guys swear they can get to it from under the truck after removing the heat shield bolted to the back of the pump cover. I remove the coolant bottle and the FICM/bracket to get to the sensor or regulator. Either way it sucks to do in an F-Series truck.
Jwebb1981
Well I still have the Y-pipe out so I think I should be able to get to alot easier. now thanks to the info
Jwebb1981
Found the ICP thanks doctor. After I pulled the connector I found oil in the connector and the ICP. Are these things know to leak?
Keith Browning
I wouldn't say they are problematic as I haven't heard too much about them leaking. I do remember Grampy Jim posting something on one recently and I just replaced one last week for an oil leak. This was the actual sensor... also posted in the Photographs section on this site. AMCTech
Like Keith said, I agree the topside approach works best for me. So far, In every case where the early-build ICP has failed, the sensor and harness side connector have been breached with oil contamination, with symptoms anything from start-stall to runs rough. In any case, the above picture is pretty accurate. I'm glad the mk ll engine has the RF ICP!
Jim Warman
Jason... I remember a TSB telling us to change the pigtail if the ICP is leaking.... pigtail is available separately or can be "stolen" from the ICP/EBP recall kit... FWIW... I go from the bottom.... seems a little easier on this old guy - I don't bend in as many places as I used too...
