eastendpowerstroke
If cold start smoke is the only concern and he had no other concerns like long crank times cold or needing to plug it in all the time, it probably has a few bad glow plugs. A leaking injector would more than likely leak all the time not just on a cold start. Some smoke (blueish/white) is normal on a "cold start" no matter what temp is out side but worsens as it gets colder. most 7.3's will start with two or three bad GP's but will have some not to happy holes till they get a little heat in them causing smoke.
