We just got a couple of emergency ordered ficms from the vendor, and guess where they came from? The caterpillar reman facility. Another good one is the tsb for the blend door motor on an 05 -08 f-150. Gives part # that is backorder usa, as is the old part #. How are we supposed to keep customers happy?

At least we are not alone. One of our techs has had a 2005 6.6 Durajunk diesel torn apart for head gaskets since before the new year. Parts backordered, possibly here tomorrow. The $300 gasket set doesn't even include new head bolts. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whattodo.gif

Be careful on the head gaskets. There is 3 different grades on the gaskets, be sure that you lay the old ones side by side to the new ones and make sure everything is the same, all the holes all the slots, everything!!!!

So, once again, has anyone replaced a FICM on an E-Van?

Well, today an E-450 came in on the hook as a no-start. CMDTCs P0678, P0683, P0611, P1378, P0275. Unit is an '07 with only 54,263 kms. (33,717 miles). Only clicks when I went to try to start it. So, I go to boost it. Miraculously, I was able to fire it up. Once it fired up, I monitored all the PIDs and FICM_L/FICM_M/FICM_V all remained nice and steady at 13/48/13. When doing the KOER test, I noticed that after the engine RPM decrease back to engine idle speed, it didn't give me the usual "hiccup" just before the test concluded. IIRC, that "hiccup" is the glow plug system running a test? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. So, just for shits and giggles I ran a glow plug system monitoring KOER test, and sure enough, P0678 and P0683 were the hard faults. After following pinpoint test AF, it led me to replace the GPCM. My question is, can a bad GPCM also set P0611 and P1378 DTCs, even if the FICM checks out GOOD?

I got another 6.0l e sees today with hard cold start, was left over the weekend. Started it up this am and would barely crank. performed self test before disconnecting batteries and had no codes. Ended up cleaning all battery posts and replacing both batteries.Vehicle still cold, now i was monitoring Ficm mpower 22volts, ficm Lpower 3-5volts, ficmVpower 3-5 volts and Vpower 11.8volts> this only last for 15 seconds when key is on each time, all normal after.vehicle starts fine and no codes. Have performed tsb procedure , check all grounds, power from ficm relayto ficm connector, swap ficm relay, load test circuits and disconnected glow plug system.also tried another ficm and still the same. I did not have another e series to compare but and f series ficm Mpower is 47.5 volts and ficmlpower is same as battery voltage when key is first turned on. Will be checking further more tomorrow but was curious if anybody ever notice or seen this before.
