up pipe torquing

I got this 6.4 that I removed the turbo on cab on. What do you guys think would happen if I fail to properly torque the inlet and egr pipes at the rear? Im thinking I'll follow the sequence but without the torque wrench. What if I make a clicking sound everytime I tighten a bolt? I don't have the adapter kit to use my torque wrench. What "engine damage" do you think would occur? Just a what if question. I might just go and buy or piece together an adapter kit.

I think tightening them in the right sequence is more important than torquing. I did a cab on turbo and just tightened the inlet pipes with a wrench. I was somewhat worried about the end result, but the truck is a regular of ours and has had no exhaust leak issues.

I think the other part of the equation not mentioned here is alignment of the components and reducing stress on the horizontal EGR cooler and the flex joints. To me that would be more important than anything else. Avoiding exhaust leaks is definitely crucial.

Sorry I havent updated in a while. My pc is out for repair. Well, I didn't have time to get the kit, but I put it together in the exact sequence specified. I "clicked" every bolt and had no issues with the truck. As soon as I get the chance I will buy the adapter kit. I still fail to figure out what "engine damage" the WSM is talking about. Exhaust leaks or warped flanges aren't engine damage. If I get this "engine damage" I'll be sure to report.
