GregH
I was talking to my warranty guy the other day, shooting the shit (more like making small talk after getting hosed on a warranty repair) and he mentioned that all the FSE's had been recalled to Detroit. He went on to say that they were asked to bring their company cars and any special tools that they had been issued.... On a more local note, our service manager and general manager have been let go in the last week. And the F&I girl also decided to leave.. Looking like a ghost town around here with dark offices. Add that to the fact that the owners elected to cancel last years Christmas bonus and party, and they amended the handbook to remove the 3rd week of vacation after 10 years of service. Again, I'm glad that I'm on commission... Worse comes to worse, I know a local potato farmer who uses nothing but Fords.. I'm part Irish - I can work for potatoes if necessary! Keith Browning
Come to think of it my FSE expressed anxiety concerning the longevity of his employment last week. No details but it fits with what you are reporting. On the surface it doesn't sound good. You can say what you want about these guys, they do an important job. Cetane
Last week was another big "headcount" reduction. Not sure how many service engineering people were cut but we lost another 10% in my building. That was the second big cut in the past year. Times are tough for everybody in this industry..... Jim Warman
Howdy, stranger.... Even the oil patch is feeling the squeeze... Where my boy worked, the honchos walked in, handed each man an envelope and said "Goodbye".
G. Bedford
Out here in fly over country, I haven't seen a FSE in years. I don't think we will feel the reduction. Heck, our nearest training center is Denver, and that is 400 miles one way. We just deal with the every day problems on our own.
