dieseldoc
I am not sure if this is the appropriate place for this thread. Feel free to move it wherever keith. My girlfriend is in the market for a newer car. I prefer it be a ford since that is what I am comfortable working on. She likes the looks of the fusion. We havent looked at any up close or taken one for a drive. My question to you guys is what is your opinion of the fusion? Are they a fairly reliable car without to many issues? I know you guys probably dont work on any of these but would imagine that you see them come through the shop. Thanks for the opinions guys
Jeff_E
I like them. My brother bought one on my advise and loves it. We haven't really seen any problems with them yet, usually they just come in for maintenance.
Alex Bruene
I don't work on them at all, but I don't see too many come through the other side. The most common issue that I have seen on my trips from the truck shop to the parts department is hanger bearings on the AWD.
mchan68
The most common issue that I have seen on my trips from the truck shop to the parts department is hanger bearings on the AWD.I've done two of them so far. Other than that, they appear to be excellent cars so far.
dieseldoc
Thanks for the input guys, thats what I was wondering about. How long have they been out? I have never kept up on anything other than the 3/4 and 1 tons pick-ups. When I get some time I guess we will have to go to check them out and go for a spin. Thats cool that you can get them in awd. Definitely a very nice feature here, since we get quite a bit of snow and ice.
Keith Browning
They seem to be trouble free from my perspective as well. I have never driven or worked on one so th is is just an observation. I do like the looks of them though.
Aaron
Lots of hanger bearings. Guy across the shop from me just put a motor in one for a "bedplate" leak
Mekanik
I think its a very solid car. I did a battery cable on one, and I can't remember doing anything else other than a o/f and rotate.
Shlep
The earlier models with a manual transmission had some flywheel and syncro issues, the very odd headgasket oil leak on the V6 but other then whats already been mentioned they're a really solid car. GregH
My sister bought one with my d-plan discount about a year ago. She opted for the v-6 and all the bling inside. She is tickled with her's. No real problems to report yet, and she's cleared 30,000 miles. One fluke - during a road trip she stopped to change drivers. When she placed the vehicle in park, opened the door and got out, she noticed the engine revving up. She looked back at the cluster and saw that the engine RPM was climbing to 3500. She cut the engine off, waited a moment, and restarted. The problem didn't come back. A dealer visit a few days later revealed no problems. That was a month ago, and the problem hasn't happened again...

eastendpowerstroke
one motor mount, one o2 sensor, lots of LOF's, and one engine. BTW It will go about 30,600 miles maintenance free before it starts knocking.
Shlep
BTW It will go about 30,600 miles maintenance free before it starts knocking. Ahhhh yes I forgot about that one, we had one just before Christmas that had the "Maintenance Free" program applied.... and yep abotu 35,000 was the magic number
BrunoWilimek
Sold lots of them here with very few problems, just maintenance. Everone at the dealership got to drive one home for one night to try it out. I thought it rode/handled/drove well and had adequate power for my needs. I even liked the 4 cylinder manual tranny one that I PDI'd.
dieseldoc
The girlfriend and I have to go on couple trips this year one in may and one in september. We are going to go check out the fusion and the 500 once we get some time and than try to see if we can rent one to make our trip. I would think after an 800 mile round trip we should know if we like it or not. Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it. She is a chevy girl that I am trying to convert to the "right side" . I would hate to get her in something that is problematic and have her give me a hard time. ChristopherH
I have a 2006 Fusion SE with the 3.0. It is a great car, and the only thing I have had to do so far is change the oil and rotate the tires. It rides nice on the interstate and has plenty of power. The fuel mileage is pretty good with the V6 also--I have gotten as much as 33 mpg when I drive it just right. Our other car was an older Taurus and let me just say it is a major step up. I would recommend the Fusion to anybody that asks!
fabfoes87
Nice styling, hybrid coming soon, probably the nicest Ford car. I would opt for one myself.
