OHNO60
Just another dumb question, but had a 2005 f250 fail an ipr twice in 80 miles by having the screen nailed.Replace ipr and she starts and runs great. Any ideas where debris large enough to nail the ipr 2 times? Oil clean,un rolled oil filter and found clean. Thinking HP pump. thanks guys
Bruce Amacker
Better pull the oil cooler up and check the HP intake screen. I bet it's junk, and maybe the HPOP too. Good Luck!
Aaron
Didn't they used to tell us to change the HPOP when these screens had holes punched in 'em? We're not allowed to do that anymore.... What Bruce said though - out of all the 6.0's I've had apart, I can count on one finger ones that that intake screen hasnt had all the windows bashed out of it, so I'd look there for sure. DwayneGorniak
Just make sure that you cover your ass and give a good reason for removing the oil cooler. You may want to do the coking diag TSB to give yourself justification for looking under the oil cooler. And where it says to verify EOT/ECT correlation of 15 degrees, you will most likely be able to fail it. Just make sure you write a P0404 down on the hard copy. Always always gotta cover your ars. OHNO60
Well think "it all she wrote" gerotor mashed by metal, front cover destroyed. Looks like the classic 6.0 curse. Strained the oil with a paint strainer and found pieces present. Only problem its a 180,000 mile failure. Get this never had a warrantable repair. It actually made 185,000! Friggen engineering marvel.
Mekanik
Whats in the pump? Pieces of a roller lifter or those injector pieces?
OHNO60
Believe it or not, nothing found yet. The damage to the Gerotor pump looks like small allot of dimples. Not at all like the damage a cam roller makes. This truck never had a warranty claim, so not sure injector pieces are the culprit. Pulled the oil filter and unrolled, clean. What ever it is that failed its like Prego- It's in there.
