charley425
Has anyone seen evidence of extreme (320+)under hood temps on E series vans?
Keith Browning
I personally have not seen any 6.0L overheat severely but Jim Warman has! If you do a search for "oil cooler" you will probably find the thread. (yes, the search function works very well here) Did thos Econoline atually over heat or are we talkin under hood temps specifically?
charley425
This vehicle did not overheat. The extreme heat set off a fire suppresion system. The heat sensing wires complete a circuit at about 340 f. All fluids are ok. No exhaust leaks. I am involved with a fleet of 6.0.This is not the first time for this problem.I could fill up this web site with the problems I have.Average milage on fleet is about 45,000 miles
gasgasman
They probably had the sensor wires too close to the exhaust Y pipe.
Keith Browning
Maybe! It's not a far stretch to think that certain areas under the hood could get that hot. Consider the tight squeeze of the engine, a turbo sitting on top along with the manifold and the rest of the exhaust tubes. I don't see too many ambulances anymore and I have never heard of a fire suppression system in one. Is this something new? If this is becoming a problem for you then you might want to start researching what the normal temps are around the engine. If the normal temps are over 300'F then you might need to change your suppression systems. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif Interesting topic. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Quote: I could fill up this web site with the problems I have What are you waiting for?
