02 7.3 Dead Pedal

I thought we've covered this before, but I can't find it.

Got an 02 350, intermittent dead pedal and customer says the check engine light, wait to start light, and "some other light" comes on when this happens.

I am unable to duplicate this concern. Customer says when it happens, he shuts it off, and restarts it and it goes away. I've got this thing coming back this week for some continued diag so any help would be appreciated. There are no codes.

Customer states that this started happening after the IDM was replaced, or that the IDM was replaced for the same concern awhile ago, I'm not 100% sure which now - he was somewhat hard to understand, and I gave my liver quite a punishment yesterday so things are still a little fuzzy.

I had a 7.3 with a dead pedal once in an excursion. It ended up being a chafed harness near the LF wheel well... If I remember right it rubbed against a power steering hose from the hydroboost. It was a couple years ago but that's the only thing that jumps in my mind when you stated your concern. Good luck!

Yep,I agree with Jeff...there are a couple of harnesses that run right next to the L/F shock tower bolt, and the accel pedal harness is right there...probably rubbed through the wire insulation, since there is not much(if any)loom protecting it.Easy money, and you'll be the hero for fixing it.Let us know what you found, good luck!
