Have fun!

Never done an ambulance, done lots of E-vans and F-trucks though.

If it's warranty, keep your punch times for your MT punch.

And ask your parts department to save the harness if Ford does not call it back. They usually don't. If you get to keep it, cut off all of the connectors leaving 4"-6" of wire. These salvaged harnesses have saved my ass several times and you WILL need something from it one day sooner or later. We havent done any harnesses in a while now and some connectors are scarce again.

Last three of them I did in vans, Ford called back.

Do you do a lot of harnesses and did you claim a lot of M-time? Just curious. I don't think they have ever called back a harness from us but I doubt we have ever done more than 4 or 5 6.0L harnesses in total over the years... excluding fuel injector harnesses of course.

We were seeing quite a few of them, because of the number of E-series vans in our area especially. Usually always crushed in the same place, on the front intake bolt on the driver's side behind the fuel filter housing, or the CKP wires all chafed to hell between the main harness and the sensor between fuel lines, etc. etc.

Yeah. It's still a prick to do no matter how you slice it

I usually hock the shroud, fan, and stator the hell out of the road because it's just irritating. Lose the belt, take the bolts out of the ac compressor so you can get at the crank sensor wiring. Take the cam sensor wiring, and take the pins out of the connector and tape it to a long piece of wire so it's easy to fish down in behind the fuel lines and all that shit.

You can do it without takin the turbo off, but it's a lot nicer to do it with it off.

You'll need to pull the degas bottle out to get at the PCM, and there is a ground down below it on the fenderwell.

What year shitbox are you working on? The early E-vans have a stud up on the valvecover that the main power harness attaches to, the later ones have a cable that runs down to the starter.

Aside from that, I'm sure if I've missed anything, these guys will chime in and fill in the missing parts.

We got a thinkin' man here. I don't know how many of these I have fought with, and this idea never occurred to me. Now that I have this idea to try, I probably won't have to due another one at least until I forget about this trick.

yup these suck, we do alot of them due to the heat here in az. the ambos sit and run all day and they just bake harnesses!! tapping the pins on the cam wiring works well.

I never seem to have a problem with the CMP sensor wiring. It's the CKP sensor wiring that pisses me off the most, fighting with the A/C compressor to access. Especially being a no-start causing circuit, I make damn sure to have it clipped to the block at all the factory locations. I refuse to mangle it in any way, due to the high potential for a comeback.
