cbriggs
Anybody ever see the crank snap like a twig at the #4 main bearing? Engine still ran, made a godawful noise though. Rear of crank flopped around so much that torque converter mangled the trans bellhousing, rear cover, and broke the flexplate. I'll try to take some pics tommorow. Bruce Amacker
I've never seen it on a diesel engine, but many times on gassers. I'm curious if there was a root cause, such as overfueling, leaking head gasket and hydrolock, etc.
cbriggs
Im trying Aaron. I cant get pics to upload. I got 2 to work, but none of the closeups of the engine will upload. Maybe Kieth can help?
joshbuys
Here is a picture of a broken 6.0 crankshaft that my brother-in-law sent me last year, i believe he said it was the #4 main, not sure what year. Said he drove it into the shop, had to put a transmission in it also.

Aaron
How'd that sound, Chris?
cbriggs
Loud is an understatement. It actually drove in the shop, and ran for 30 second or so while i assessed the noise. ( with my ear muffs on) I finally got approval on tuesday to fix it, so new engine and trans went in on friday. First time ive ever changed a trans out the top of the chassis. Aaron
Wow, surprised they didn't want you to put a trans case on that and transfer all the guts out of it.
Brad Clayton
Been there done that. Had a new Windbag that threw a rod and knocked the starter off along with the bell housing section that it was still attached to. It got an FQR engine and a empty new trans case that I had to switch over. All on a van with less than a 1000 miles on the clock. Customer was some kinda happy about it. cbriggs
We cost compared it and by the time we bought a case ( backorder usa) and a pump, converetr and seals kit it was close. So we just put in for and fqr and they approved it. After sending pictures and and and, took ten days for approval. Tieing up my only 2 post for that time. oh well. sixturbosix
Did I hear you say that torqshift cases are on backorder because I need to order one tomorrow for an 06 f350 that split the case right about where the reverse planetary is and it is customer pay.
