I replaced a turbo today and it was only the secoind one I have replaced for a performance issue. As soon as the new (reman) turbo got hot it froze up leaving me with no boost. Mike Jeanotte Posted March 11, 2006 Share Posted March 11, 2006 I had a replacment turbo do the same thing but came out of it without the help of any fine adjustment tool. I heard that the early ones were sticking cause they were coated with a rust protectant (you know that sticky stuff)and the exhaust was sticking to it causing problems. One of the problems found with some of the new ones is that when they sit on a shelf in the parts dept(non climate controlled)the temp and moisture changes are a great oportunity to rust.. Even the ones with that Cortec paper or whatever in with them... Packages always look like water has never been close.... Anyone else see that?
