New Reman Turbos Sticking?

I learned a LOT about turbochargers and strategy this week... but that's another topic altogether. I replaced a turbo today and it was only the secoind one I have replaced for a performance issue. As soon as the new (reman) turbo got hot it froze up leaving me with no boost. I retested the system putting the VGTDC to 85% & "tapped" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

I had a replacment turbo do the same thing but came out of it without the help of any fine adjustment tool. I heard that the early ones were sticking cause they were coated with a rust protectant (you know that sticky stuff)and the exhaust was sticking to it causing problems.

It very well may be an assembly lube issue... One of the problems found with some of the new ones is that when they sit on a shelf in the parts dept(non climate controlled)the temp and moisture changes are a great oportunity to rust..

Speaking of rust.... every now and again we get a batch of that have rusty patches.... Even the ones with that Cortec paper or whatever in with them... Packages always look like water has never been close....

Anyone else see that?
