Keith Browning
It's a 2008 F350 w/6.4l and Hydro Boost. The truck came in with no power steering and the brake pedal stuck in the down position. You could pull the pedal up with your foot and regain steering but braking was hard - the pedal would still not return. Long story short I am pulling the booster out and removed the steel jumper lines which I pulled of with difficulty. I discovered a white plastic tube like drinking straw about 8-10 inches long stuck in the booster hydraulic inlet. It is a thick hard plastic. I assume it is the inside of the pressure line from the booster. Anyone ever see this?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Iv'e seen this but on the larger trucks. They use the same style stainless lines, they use a plastic liner usually it won't come apart inside, the problem is usually blockages or leaks due to pinching or kinking of the line. The plastic is crimped along with the shield in the hose ends.
slim
Yeah, I've seen our old front end guy wrestle with one of those things. The plastic liner ended up stuck inside the hydroboost and it was a 7.3L. He replaced the hydroboost and the pressure line. It then came back a week later with the same problem. I never thought about him kinking or pinching the line when installing it but it seems the most logical cause of failure. Maybe somebody else did some work around the pressure line recently which caused the failure.
