Injector Connectors

Does anyone have problems snaping the injector connectors together. 2(on diff. trucks) times I have replaced number 7 and had the connector snap in place only to find later that it had come apart. Both time this has happend I have found that the male side connector had a pin bent.

If anyone knows what I am doing wrong plz let me know. This is really getting old. Esp since both times I have had the truck put back together. Also I pull on the connector before putting the cover back on, and they didn't come apart then.

Two things. You need to line up the connector before inserting it into the injector connector. I used to do the same thing... I was either rotating it or had it cocked while pushing it in causing a bent pin which will not allow the connector to seat and lock.

Ashamed to admit this but I used to use a socket to release the injector connectors from the cylinder heads. This would sometimes damage or deform the connector causing similar problems. There is a special tool made for this. It's a cup on the end of a bent 4" rod with a ball on the end. (works better than a socket /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif )

I like the factory tool, too.... push down and wiggle a bit... done deal. There is the odd occasion where the socket and a mild tap from something smaller than our usual choice of swing presses is more effective, but it's ahed to beat the right tool for the job....

Besides, I get to ask the girls in the office next to the tool crib what they think of my big, black knob... At heart, I'm a dirty old man and I do have appearances to keep up....
