caper
Hey guys, new guy here.Used to work @ ford dealer when 6.0 was first coming out.Now working @International dealer. We don't see very many 6.0l as yet but last week one came in for a coolant leak in the valley area. One of the other techs was looking at it until the service manager pulled him off saying it was going to ford under warranty. He said he could definately see coolant in the valley but didn't know where it was coming from.Anyway the next day we get a call from the ford dealer telling us they cant find any leaks and we are getting billed for diag. The truck came back with no leaks and the valley completely dry.Unit was checked again and found not to be leaking.Any known or common leak points in this area?Any quick fixes that might have been done?Service manager says he is not paying because he knows something was done, leaks don't cure themselves. Keith Browning
Welcome to our Forums Caper, it's always good when an International tech joins in. You are aware that the 6.0L Power Stroke is for the most part the same as your VT365 engine? I guess that an International dealer can't perform warranty repairs on a Power Stroke? That actually makes sense if you think about it. To address your question, a common source of leaks is the short connector hose between the EGR cooler and the oil cooler. This hose is about 3 inches long and is typically orange... but I have seen them in blue. I know that the VT365 uses a different EGR valve but I am unaware if the cooler is different. International Tech
Yep. seen that hose leak a few times. We have calls everyday from Ford 6.0 owners wanting to know if we can do the job under warranty. As of right now its a big no.
