Jim Warman
So... all that remains is for us to find out if these will become a source of reasonably priced aftermarket replacements - or if they will become a source of future concerns. Now... there is most every chance that there wont be any problems from this venture... but, as of this writing, I see a lot of guys jumping on a bus.... and nobody has asked where the fuck the bus is going.... I may be reading too much into it.... but somebody has to.
Aaron
I'm not adverse to him paying me for wore out junk that Ford don't want back However, he only buys in lots of 10.
Keith Browning
Now... there is most every chance that there wont be any problems from this venture... but, as of this writing, I see a lot of guys jumping on a bus.... and nobody has asked where the fuck the bus is going.... I may be reading too much into it.... but somebody has to. I am still waiting for the effect on emissions to become an issue or gain the interest of the EPA. I have seen other discussions on other venues that have come to a similar conclusion that NOx reduction of these coolers is insufficient. If this is the case it is only a matter of time before someone gets slapped with a hellaceous fine. (that's big money) I don't think selling cores to these people is an offence... Jim Warman
Well, no... selling the cores will never be an offence... the act of selling one of these doesn't cause any grief, nor does it contravene any legislation. Some of the "problem" is attributable to me being over reactive... but that's just me... Some of the problem is that the general population fails to understand and "appreciate" the components of tailpipe emissions that can (and have) done us harm. I'm possibly the only person here that can remember the "smog alerts" that were included as part of the evening news on TV. If we don't learn from our history, we will be doomed to repeat it. The subject can't be fully covered in a few simple paragraphs... legal issues, moral issues.... simply acting like a responsible adult and doing ones share. Perhaps it might help if techs had a deeper understanding of tailpipe emissions and evaporative emissions... What are oxides of nitrogen? How do they affect us? Why should In worry about it? CO? CO2? What about all the other components of auto exhaust? Perhaps it might help if some of us could shed that "anything for a buck" mentality (They are gong to start using lawyers for lab testing - apparently there are some things the rats refuse to do). This is that "so I chopped out the guys cat and stuffed the money in my jeans" cavalier bullshit. The air we breathe is cleaner now than it was many years ago..... But - think of it like this...... The 4H club is picking the trash out of your municipalities ditches - all the while, the scoff-laws are throwing garbage at them. If you are doing your part to minimize your footprint, you should be incensed at the asshole that is trying to undo your efforts.
Jim Warman
Before I forget and, just for the record... I'm not saying "sell/don't sell". I am saying that "I'm not and here are some of the reasons". Each and every one of us is the product of our development, our environment and our relationships... each of us views life in our own manner... Each of us marches to the beat of our own drummer... I have been told that I march in my own parade (somedays that's an insult and some days that's a compliment).
ChristopherH
I have installed several of the aftermarket upgraded egr coolers that bullet proof diesel sells. They use the Ford cores and cut off the ends and then weld in way thicker and better tubes, put them back together and pressure test them. They come with a 12 month warranty and cost about 300.00. If you buy a new one, they send you a return shipping label for your old core and give you back 50.00. These egr coolers perform exactly like the OEM coolers and do not delete or modify the egr system in any way. So far, I am very impressed and try to sell all of my customer pay jobs on these coolers. Aaron
Does anyone else find it funny that they offer $25 for intake sets with the EGR hardware, yet they sell the same kit for $125 on their site?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
Does anyone else find it funny that they offer $25 for intake sets with the EGR hardware, yet they sell the same kit for $125 on their site? Nope not funny, but seems odd that a Factory trained tech working in a Ford dealer is pushing a A/M part.

ChristopherH
Sorry man, but I don't get any kickbacks from these guys. Come to think of it, I don't get any from Ford either. I just want to try and help some of these customers who keep having expensive repeat egr cooler failures on their 6.0s, but do not want to violate any emissions laws. I can tell you after looking at the price and construction comparison between the two that I know which one would go on my truck. Those repair bills get ugly when the powerstroke warranty expires!
