any jobber scanner do power balance

I do alot of sideline work and just wondering if there is anything i can use to perform a power balance on a 6.0 the IDS is not always available for sleepovers and my Solus I know does not.......

I used to spend a lot of time on the newsgroup rec.woodworking. The concensus was to buy the best tool for the job.... This way, you would only cry once instead of every time you use it....

Having said that, I have my own views about using employer tools when moonlighting....

AutoEnginuity generally gets lot's of praise... but usually from people that have never used an IDS.

Be it a sideline "career" or your bread and butter - both you and your customer deserve the best that can be had.... If you disagree, feel free to tell me why.....

The autoenginuity is a great scan tool UNTIL. . . you get to the 6.0 and 6.4. If you are working on a lot of the 6.0, 6.4 bite the bullet and buy the IDS. IDS is the only thing that works with these newer engines.

Not even the new snap-on scanner (name escapes me now) that replaces the modis can. My SM's brother works at a shop down the road, and they do alot of 6.0 work, I get called to take the IDS down there to run PB tests all the time.

It's not that i am taking work away from my employer by any means but when you have 9 techs and only 2 scan tools and typically now one of them always seems to be out of commission. I dont have a problem with getting my own IDS the only thing i don't like is after i get this am i going to have find myself getting a Chrysler DRB and then a tech 3 for the dura max :P

I don't think anyone is casting aspersions on your choice of after work entertainment... Most everyone I know has done side work... up until something goes horribly wrong and being a member of the underground economy suddenly loses its luster. Posted Image

But..... a scan tool is just like any other tool. We can buy a tool that does one thing very, very well.... or we can buy a tool that does a lot of things - only not too well...

FWIW... most of my adult life was spent as self employed.... I found that I am a lot better at machines than I am at business.
