Econoline Ball Joints?

I never really noticed it to be year specific, E-van ball joints are junk, regardless of year in my experience.

And I don't see a great deal of E-Vans anymore, either. Posted Image

Would ya like to see some? Posted Image

I don't mind them so much, Myself and one other guy at my old dealership did pretty much all the work on them. None of the other tech's wanted anything to do with them, but would take them if there wasn't anything else to do.

Yes.. We are seeing a lot of E-series ball joints..

Unfortunately, we are seeing a lot of other failures, too.

And by "we," I mean "I."

I'm the only one here that works 'em

I present to you, my mortgage payments for the next two years:

I currently have two of these beasts in the shop. One has a blown oil cooler, and mashed potatoes in the cooling system. Mind you, not the buttery, peppery, tasty kind - the smelly, gray, can't clean it outa the radiator for shit kind.

The other one has a problem on #3 - loss of compression and "putt putt putt" through the intake.

I've already put ball joints on every one of them, head gaskets on one, and an EGR cooler on another.

I've also had a few EGR valves and a #3 injector electrical concern that went away on it's own....

All this within the last year. Ahh I love me some 6.0L warranty...

Good point. I just noticed a good run on really low mileage trucks and it's not like one or two joints are loose or have rust coming out of them... lately it has been all four an each vehicle. Never mind measuring the deflection - they are loose! And they only pay what, 1.3? I know they aren't hard but they are not something I want to do all day for 1.3 thank you.

1.3 now? Shit, they used to pay 1.9 for 2wd dual wheels.

I don't mind Econolines so much. Working from inside, with the seats out isn't too bad at all.

I haven't seen any early failures, but don't work on many econolines anymore. They used to pay much more and I think it was econoline ball joints that paid for my wedding nine years ago.
